Description
A few words about the piece: De profundis is a contemporary sacred setting of the Latin text of Psalm 130. The piece captures the deeply prayerful, expressive character of the psalm, combining an intimate vocal texture with passages of greater dramatic intensity. The composition won first prize at the National Composition Competition for a Passion Song in Bydgoszcz, and has been performed and recorded by ensembles such as Musica Viva, Music Everywhere, and the NFM Choir. The NFM Choir recorded the piece on the album De profundis – Polish Psalms of the 20th and 21st Century, which received the 2017 Fryderyk Award in the category “Album of the Year – Choral, Oratorio and Opera Music.” The work has also been presented abroad – in Paris, Cologne, and Echt in the Netherlands – as part of the “Star of Europe” concert tour commemorating Edith Stein.
